Choosing an offset provider can be a daunting task, with different companies and offset types offering different benefits.

Here are a number of reasons to choose Greenfleet as your offset provider:

  • We don't just focus on offsetting, we believe in avoiding and reducing greenhouse gas emissions wherever possible.  Find out more.

  • We are a not-for-profit organisation and registered environmental charity with Deductible Gift Recipient status.  This means that individuals' donations are income tax deductible and that as much money as possible is used to deliver our AVOID, REDUCE and OFFSET programs.

  • We were the first not-for-profit organisation to gain Federal Government Greenhouse Friendly™ approval for our offset methodology.

The Greenhouse Friendly initiative was discontinued as of 1 July 2010, without a replacement to accredit Australian Kyoto-compliant forest sink programs.

The Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI) is designed to fill this void and Greenfleet intends to participate in this program - however standard methodologies and regulations are still in the development stage.  Greenfleet has applied to become a Recognised Offset Entity and open a registry account - the first of seven steps to participate in the CFI.  Find out more.

  • We plant mixed native (biodiverse) forests that also help to reduce soil erosion, improve water quality and provide habitat for native animals.  Forests also help the planet develop natural adaptation strategies.  Find out more.

  • We work with local contractors to source seed, grow seedings and plant your trees - helping to support rural economies and employment.

  • We have planted more than 7 million native trees in Australia.  Find out how some of our past planting projects are helping to recapture carbon and restore habitat around Australia.

  • We have been operating since 1997, have around 7,000 individual supporters and several hundred corporate supporters - including some of Australia's best known brands, as well as many smaller businesses, government and not-for-profit organisations.  Here are some of the organisations who support Greenfleet.
