Annual Australian Climate Statement 2011

The Bureau of Meteorology released its Annual Australian Climate Statement yesterday, revealing:

• Consecutive La Niña events brought Australia's third-wettest year on record and second-highest two year total.
• La Niña brings heavy rain, eases drought and causes widespread flooding.
• Australia's first cooler than average year since 2001.
• Australia's coldest autumn since at least 1950.
• The 10 years from 2002 to 2011 were Australia's equal-warmest 10-year period on record.
