The reduction of CO2 emissions is currently one of the biggest challenges for the automotive industry, with the largest automotive markets like China, Europe, Japan and the United States recently adopting very stringent CO2 emission regulations for 2015. Even further reductions are planned for 2020 and beyond.
To meet these limits, diverse technologies will be needed in a range of areas - including more efficient engines and transmissions, reducing vehicle weight, intelligent control systems to manage electrical systems more efficiently, and alternative fuels.
There will be opportunities for inventors, SMEs and researchers to meet with established global organisations, car manufacturers and investors.
Inventors and researchers can present their technologies and compare them with the plans of the established automotive industry. A Panel Discussion will provide valuable feedback for the commercialisation process.
The "Pathway to Commercialisation" session gives insights from the investors' perspective. Commercialisation Australia will discuss examples of the first success stories of the new grant program and the pros and cons of trade secrets versus patents will be discussed.
