One small step for Australia's Parliament; one giant leap for Australia

In an historic vote today, Australia's House of Representatives passed the bills necessary to introduce a carbon price into Australia's economy.  The legislation still needs to pass the Senate, but is expected to do so when it is presented later this year (likely November).

This is a monumental step in the fight against climate change - introducing a price on carbon which will mean that products and services that do more damage to the climate will cost more, and those that are better for the environment will cost less.

Once introduced, a carbon price will act as an impetus for all businesses to reduce their impact on the environment, because it will also save them money - while technologies and products that are already better for the environment will be more competitively placed in the market.

Greenfleet welcomes today's progress and looks forward to the Senate completing the process in November.
