Real Insurance
PAY AS YOU DRIVE insurance & carbon offsets
Real Insurance is one of the Hollard group of companies, providing a wide range of insurance products and services to more than 5 million policyholders worldwide.
In 2007 Hollard was named “Best Niche Insurer” by the Australian Banking and Finance Magazine. This award reflects our passion for developing innovative products and services.
Case in point is our latest car insurance product, PAY AS YOU DRIVE, where customers pay for insurance based only on the kilometres they drive. Limiting the amount of kilometres they drive creates a win-win situation all round: saving money, driving less and ultimately polluting less. We are proudly affiliated with Greenfleet and enthusiastically support their efforts by donating to their project of planting mixed native trees to reduce the impacts of climate change. We are also encouraging our workforce, as well as our customers to support the Greenfleet carbon offset programme, passing all donations over to Greenfleet directly, without charging any handling or administration fees to customers.
PAY AS YOU DRIVE won the 2008 Australian Banking & Finance Magazine Telstra Insurance Award for Best General Insurance Product.

Fuel offset for 45 4WD vehicles
The NSW Fire Brigades (NSWFB) is responsible for preventing and responding to fire emergencies, protecting 90 percent of the State’s population in the major cities, metropolitan areas and towns across rural and regional NSW.

ON-Q Human Resources
701 tonnes CO2-e
ON-Q Human Resources (ON-Q) is one of Australia's largest, most experienced and successful not-for-profit employment services providers. Our specialised employment program suite spans Australian Apprenticeships and Traineeships (Start Smart), Vocational Rehabilitation (Reconnect), Disability Employment (Real Ability) and School to Work Transition (Get Ready). Located in the Northern Rivers area of NSW and on Queensland's Gold Coast, we work closely within our communities to help people, especially those with a disability, into paid employment. We also have a range of professional services to assist Employers to recruit staff. ON-Q is quality assured against international ISO Standards, as well as Australia’s National Group Training and Disability Standards. We have a clear company mission and pride ourselves on our high ethical and professional standards.
In 2008, ON-Q engaged GHD to perform an Environmental and Carbon Footprint Audit to determine the CO2 emissions associated with all company practices. They assessed the company on four key areas of emissions: Energy, Resources, Vehicle Fleet and Waste Management. From this baseline, ON-Q was able to develop an implementation strategy, individualised to suit the abilities and culture in each office, and an ongoing reduction plan. Strategies include staff engagement, a review of the structure of work and motor vehicle usage, recycling and reduction schemes, shifting to renewable power sources and the development of an Environmental Policy.
Over the next period we will review our motor vehicle fleet, re-engineer our business model to reduce reliance on motor vehicles, identify and adopt clean energy sources or where this is out of our control, negotiate with our landlords. The main focus of ON-Q’s Green Initiative is a shift towards sustainable business practices and a reduction in resource usage and waste. This is in line with our Company Mission and social responsibility focus. Environmental responsibility has other benefits as well; there is a relatively low associated cost with reduction, high levels of staff pride in the initiative, it is attractive to potential staff and is overall, “the right thing to do”.
